📝 Overview 📝

Particl is a project that is building a protocol that can be used for the development of private decentralised applications (dApps).

They have got the ball rolling with their first dApp which was the Particl marketplace. This was an anonymous marketplace where people can buy and sell an array of goods.

This marketplace is also trying to solve some of the challenges that are faced by centralised marketplaces such as high fees and censorship.

The native coin powering the Particl ecosystem is the PART coin. There are a number of privacy enhancing features which make them untraceable in through blockchain analysis.

PART is also a “staking” coin which means that you can stake it for a return. This is also one of the few coins where you can stake them inside a ledger hardware wallet (called “cold staking”).

Particl is also one of the few projects that supports SegWit for all of their transactions. There is also Atomic Swap functionality that is built into the protocol.

Particl is also trying to enhance the privacy of the network by adopting “Bulletproofs”. This is a technological feature that has been implemented on Monero.

There is a pretty large team that makes up Particl with over 20 members with diverse backgrounds from Software Engineering, Marketing and cryptography. They have also been quite active in development as is evidenced from their GitHub commits.

PART was launched in 2017 and did not complete any ICO or pre-mine. PART are available on a number of exchanges although the most active is probably on Bittrex. Given limited liquidity for the tokens, they are quite volatile.
